A Prophecy
Ka Hae Hawaii
May 23, 1860:
Perhaps you have heard of the prophecy of Kapihe before Kamehameha the First.
Here are the prophecies:
At the time of niʻaukani* near the beach at North Kona. Kapihe was a person from Kuamoo and he was called insane. He came from Kuamoo to Holualoa with a long malo to prophesy before the Chief. This is what he said:
"The lands shall be seized,
What is the most Sacred shall be brought down,
What is Earthly shall be exalted up,
The Gods will descend here below,
And associate with mortals,
Wakea shall ascend up above,
Milu shall descend beneath,
The Sacred Beings shall live as mortals."
Perhaps you or one of your readers could explain this prophecy. Is it true? Please say so.

I have taken the liberty to translate the 1860 editorial from the source Hawaiian Language document composed by a native speaker and subject of the Hawaiian Kingdom and read, with zero doubt, by our Hawaiian Language Speaking Nation, the Kingdom of Hawaii.
As with all prophecies that come to be, we have the privilege of hindsight that helps us better interpret what was before a riddle. I have chosen in particular to translate the "hui" of the aina as the illegal occupation and forced cessation of the Kingdoms Royal and Government lands by the illegal occupation of the United States that continues for 122 years and through today.
In the mid and late 19th centuries the term "hoohui aina" becomes prevalent in source Hawaiian language documents. The lack of a treaty, and the reason we have perpetual proof that American is illegally occupying the Hawaiian Kingdom as accorded by international, Hawaiian Kingdom, and American domestic Laws, is because of the next term that becomes common during that same time period leading up, through, and past the illegal overthrow of the Kingdom. This term is "palapala hoohui aina ae like" or literally "treaty of cessation."
What I have derived from this knowledge is another term: "hoohui a noho hewa me ka palapala hoohui aina ʻole," or "illegal occupation without a treaty of cessation." Breaking Laws in all possible jurisdiction continuously 121 years and counting. Illegal all around.
I believe it is reasonable to state that Kapihe would have called any future visions of lands being joined, forcibly/illegally, or not, a "hui aina." Therefore I am using "seized" as the hui-ing of this aina was done without a treaty and in light of our present understanding of what ceded lands are and what ceded lads are NOT.

Close the upland of Kapela
No red water gushes from Kukaniloko
Not a particle issues from Holoholoku
There is none to step over the sacred platform of Liloa.
The old chiefs and their sacredness are gone.
The descendants are no longer laid to rest at Ka-pela-kapu-o-Kaka'e at 'lao. The descendants no longer point to Kukaniloko on Oahu and Holoholoku on Kauai as the sacred birthplaces. There is no one to tread on the sacred places in Waipio, Hawai'i, where Liloa once dwelt.

Hawaiians have endured, and will continue striving for justice for as many generations as it takes to have America and Americans do what is right- return to the descendants of the Hawaiian Kingdom, multi-ethnic National's of the legal government of this land, the right to manage the assets and profits of their inherent, inalienable sovereign Kingdom.
I have heard pseudo-Hawaiianites interpret this prophesy in a more "pro-Federal recognition" manner and also with complete ambivalence to the context of the Hawaiian Kingdom's continued and illegal occupation. Making dances and hula-ing to our sacred prophesy. Not my cup of ʻawa, but to each their own. It is a haole, or foreign custom in which they engage- according to my kumaka ike.
